[Maeve sounds about as unsure about Chilton as she is, which is weirdly reassuring. Not that she knows she can trust this lady, but mutual distrust of someone else can go a long way. Kind of like in high school, when you make friends over mutual dislike of other people. ]

I am, and really, I appreciate it. [She sighs.] When I talked to him earlier, he mentioned deporting and disappearance. Do you know if it's a case of one or the other? I mean, I'd get it if he was just holed up for the full moon, but it isn't for another week and-

I'm sorry. You don't know me from Eve and here I am going on and on, I probably sound crazy. I just got back from a kinda high pressure situation.

Oh, honey. Don't you worry. I don't fault you. My world has been quite volatile, so I know all about being concerned over a missing friend.

[ And even now, it hits close to home considering Teddy has been abducted. ]

My guess is a port out. There's been no evidence to suggest otherwise. Granted, I have not been to his home to see the state of things.

[It wasn't as successful as her usual snooping missions go. Usually she's got someone with a a good nose watching her back.

She did find some interesting magazines though.]

Well...if I came back after a month, surely he'll show back up too, right?

You can count on it. Likely less than a month. From my understanding, people disappear all the time here briefly enough. Either for a change of powers or a change of scenery. If he's returning from home, it will do him well to have a friend here.

[ The smile can be heard in her voice. ]

So, tell you what. Let's make a promise woman to woman. I'll take care of the bar until he returns, and you take care of Sam.
